“The Tour of Life”: Kate Bush started her first tour in 1979
“The Tour of Life” was the name of the tour with which 21-year-old Kate Bush presented her first two albums, “The Kick Inside” and “Lionheart”, and which on April 3. in the Empire Theater von Liverpool started. They led 24 appearances through Europe from April to May, including six gigs to Germany. The tour received enthusiastic reviews because Bush not only presented songs in it, but also lived out their soft spot for magic tricks, theater and pantomime.
She was accompanied next to her band by two dancers and her brother John, who performed poems in Bush’s breaks. She herself switched between different costumes, played with Egyptian mythology as well as with wild west costumes and outfits that were supposed to remind of extraterrestrials.
Bill Duffield
The reasons why Kate Bush over a period of 35 years (in 2014 there was the comeback with “Before The Dawn”, with gigs only in London), there was a lot of speculation. She expressed herself vague. Most often the cause was the workload and the death of a 21-year lighting technician during their appearance. She dedicated the late Bill Duffield to the later published songs “Blow Away” and “Moments of Pleasure”.
