The chat is from December 3, 2024. “Good afternoon Sandra, my name is Mauricio Novelli. Karina gave me your contact. I have been working with them for a few years. It would be good to coordinate a meeting to see what my company can contribute in terms of education, I am connected with large funds from abroad that are willing to invest large sums of money.” The recipient was Pettovello, the Minister of Human Capital, who answered him but ended up sending him away. The chat is part of the Libra file and comes from the cell phone of the trader friend of the general secretary that Justice, after taking its time, unlocked.
The leak matches something that this medium had reported as soon as the case broke out, in February of last year: that Novelli had approached several priests from La Libertad Avanza on behalf of Karina, to offer them different types of businesses. The latest revelations – in which the calls between the Milei and Novelli are also documented that February 14 when Libra was launched and a draft contract that amounts to US$ 5 million – once again put all the focus on the family cashier. At the same time that this happens, and not by chance, the sister makes her final advance on Government control.
Footprints. As soon as the Libra case broke out, the evidence pointed to Karina Milei. Novelli’s income in the Casa Rosada had been authorized by her, she was present at the meetings between the President and businessmen at Tech Forum – the event that the trader put together and which had the participation of Milei -, and later, in the interviews given by Hayden Davis, the American who was the creator of the cryptocurrency, he had assured that “he controlled Milei through the money he sent to his sister.” Now more evidence has been added.
There are calls between Novelli and the Milei on February 14 and 15 of the scandal, before, during and after Libra’s short life. Not only that: in chats and audios published by Página/12, La Nación and el Destape, Novelli reports a system of regular payments to Karina Milei. “Remember the 4,000 for Kari,” he says in an audio from April 2, 2024, addressed to his sister, María Pía. Three days later, according to official records, he entered the Casa Rosada. Something similar happened on November 1, when Novelli sent a message to himself that said “Pay Javier Kari.” That same day the trader had visited La Rosada.
What emerges from Novelli’s cell phone points to a fairly well-oiled system: from the beginning of 2021 until, at least, the end of 2024, the trader would have sent him a monthly payment of US$ 2 thousand, which after coming to power would have been transformed into US$ 4 thousand. During all that time – until a few months after becoming President – Milei advertised “N&W Professional Traders”, Novelli’s agency, on his networks, while it also had among its contents that he offered recorded classes by the economist. In fact, among the files that have now been declassified, the beginning of a zoom between Novelli and the Milei brothers appears, at the beginning of 2021, a time in which the libertarian was going through such a deep depression that his sister had taken him to live with her parents. The big revelation, however, is the one published by El Destape: a draft of the agreement for Libra, which details an alleged payment of US$ 5 million for the Milei
The revelations of the crypto scandal once again put the magnifying glass on a topic that NOTICIAS has been reporting for a while, the black money of the Milei, as was titled in an edition of this magazine from February 2025. In that investigation, all the scandals regarding the brothers’ accounts were uncovered: the sale of candidacies during the 2021 and 2023 campaigns (in that note, six former libertarians from different locations claimed to have been witnesses and victims of this modality, for amounts ranging from US$ 30 thousand to US$ 60 thousand for each candidacy), the paid meetings with Milei (each meeting ranged from US$ 3 thousand to US$ 10 thousand, although after becoming President that cache would have grown, as stated by Charles Hoskinson, an American who is a celebrity in the crypto world, who said that he was asked for “six figures” for a presidential meeting), and the first scandal with Novelli, the failed VULC cryptocurrency in 2022, for which the economist charged US$ 10 thousand. Then came the Andis case: there, in the audios published by journalists Ivy Cángaro and Mauro Federico, Diego Spagnuolo himself, then head of the National Disability Agency, Milei’s lawyer and leader of the ranking of visits to the Quinta de Olivos, assured that there was a system of surcharges and returns in the purchase of medicines for which Karina kept “between US$ 500 thousand and US$ 800 thousand per month.” At this point, this incessant search for money would seem to be a modus operandi of the general secretary.
Monopoly. Karina has already tried twice to take control of SIDE. One was at the end of last year, after the turbulent departure of Sergio Neiffert. In those frenetic hours before she left office – which included, as Pedro Lacour told in Eldiarioar, a fight in her underwear from her home with an envoy from Santiago Caputo -, the sister went out against the clock to look for a possible replacement. The one targeted at that moment was Miguel Ángel Toma, who knows those corridors. But the star advisor came first and managed to place Cristian Aguadra, who was previously an accountant for the Caputo family. However, the storm raged again.
After the aggressive takeover of the Ministry of Justice, the sister returned to the fray for SIDE.
In the hours before the closing of this edition there was a rumor that spread through the Casa Rosada: that the candidate proposed by Karina, a lawyer with a long career in the private world, had already twice rejected her invitation. Getting into the spy headquarters, in this Government, seems to be a risky job for many. In any case, the episode reveals the state of the official internal situation: if the general secretary has not taken over even more areas of the Government, it is simply because she lacks the human personnel to do so, as a result of the fact that until not so long ago her only occupation was the online sale of cakes and reading tarot cards. The meteoric rise to power makes the sister’s world of contacts more than limited.
Although it may seem contradictory, the progress of the Milei judicial front is the driving force behind Karina’s advance in the Government. The thing is that the sister seems to have entered that moment that reaches all those who pass through the electric chair of power: the time to start thinking about the day after. Although both are convinced that they will triumph in next year’s election, the weight that their causes are beginning to gain, especially that of Libra, has her stressed. On the one hand, he tried to reach an agreement with the judicial “caste” through the appointment of Juan Bautista Mahiques, and on the other, he tried to close control of all the resources of the State. The latter is the flip side of a feeling that has always existed in the Milei but that, in times of storms, escalates: a deep distrust of those around them.
}In these intense hours, no one can get it out of Karina’s head that behind the leaks of Adorni’s trips – and before the Spagnuolo audios – are her internal enemies. The grim face he made when Milei praised Santiago Caputo, at an event at the Libertad Palace on the night of Wednesday the 18th speaks louder than a thousand words. Karina puts on the helmet, to fight against wind, tide and also against Justice and internal affairs.
