Kanye West, now known by the stage name Ye, bought The Wall Street Journal – magazine in which he publicly apologizes for his earlier “reckless” anti-Semitic comments and explained his behavior.
The title of the article was “To Those I’ve Hurt”.
– I am neither a Nazi nor an anti-Semite. I love Jews, he wrote.
In recent years, West has made several anti-Semitic and racist statements. According to NBC he declared in his messages published in February X that he was a Nazi and praised Adolf Hitler.
Now he wrote that he deeply regrets his actions and is committed to taking responsibility for them. He also expressed his desire to change.
The man defended his actions in the article by referring to an undiagnosed brain injury and mental health problems. He said that the right frontal lobe of his brain was damaged in a car accident 25 years ago.
– It was not properly diagnosed until 2023, he wrote.
According to him, the medical neglect of the injury caused serious harm to his mental health and led to his diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
– I lost my sense of reality. In this broken state, I resorted to the most destructive symbol possible, the swastika, and even sold t-shirts bearing it.
This is what he is referring to to the t-shirts they sold last yearwhich had a picture of a swastika.
He also said that he drifted into a “manic episode lasting four months, accompanied by psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior” in early 2025. He said that he reached “rock bottom” a few months later and sought treatment at the encouragement of his wife, Bianca Censori.
The rapper described that he found a balance with the help of medication, therapy, exercise and a healthy lifestyle.

– I’m not asking for pity or a free ticket, although I hope I deserve forgiveness. I am writing today only to ask for your patience and understanding as I find my way back.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization that defends Jews, has responded to NBC’s request for comment on the rapper’s apology:
– Ye’s apology to the Jews is long overdue and does not automatically erase his long anti-Semitic history. Anti-Semitic Hi Hitler song, hundreds of tweets, swastikas and numerous Holocaust references, and not all the offense and feeling of being betrayed they have caused.
– A real apology would be that he does not commit anti-Semitic behavior in the future. We wish him well on the road to recovery, the representative of the organization added.
Several companies and entertainment industry players cut ties with West after his anti-Semitic statements. These included sportswear brand Adidas, which previously sold Yeezy sneakers named after the rapper.
Kanye West has previously apologized for his anti-Semitic comments. Published in December 2023in an Instagram update written in Hebrew, he said, among other things:
– My intention was not to offend or disparage, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.
However, in a rant published in X in February, he retracted his speech and stated:
– I will never apologize for my Jewish comments.
The apology published now comes just a few days before the release of his new album.
