The prosecutor’s office of the Kaluga region will check the issuance of certificates of Russian language proficiency to migrants who do not speak Russian, after a visit to the migration center by the governor of the region, Vladislav Shapsha, reported on the website of the department.

“During the audit, the circumstances of obtaining the relevant certificates will be studied, their authenticity will be verified, and a legal assessment will be given to both the actions of a foreign citizen and the organization that issued the certificate,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

We are talking about a certificate confirming that the migrant speaks Russian, knowledge of the history of Russia and the basics of the country’s legislation. Such a certificate allows foreigners to obtain a patent for labor activity in Russia.

The agency conducts an audit after Governor Vladislav Shapsha visited the local migration center. There he found out that some of those migrants who had already received the certificate did not speak Russian. “In Russian, no belmes!” Shapsha said after the visit. He announced that now the certificates of migrants will be checked by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
