KalP’s Sami Tervonen took responsibility for the dull defeat.

The top team of the SM league, Tappara of Tampere, forged wild numbers on the board on Friday evening, when they beat KalPa in the away team bluntly with a score of 10–1.

Tappara already led the match after the opening set with a score of 4–0, and there was no relief for the home team. In the second set, the visiting team scored five goals, and left one complete hit in the last one as well.

Tampere’s most effective player in the match was Christian Tanus with powers 1+3=4. KalPa was responsible for the only hit Juuso Könönen.

KalPa’s head coach Sami Tervonen was calm in the press conference after the match, despite the dull defeat.

– Rough start to the game. Were you afraid of the pressure, were you afraid of the backlash of the first change, did you immediately lack faith in what you were doing? Tervonen thought.

According to Tervonen, there were a lot of problems in KalPa’s game today, which eventually accumulated into the numbers on the board.

– At no point did we succeed in implementing such a rhythm that the five of us knew where we wanted to go. Lots of puck losses on their own. Didn’t recognize those moments when you just have to play forward and respect just killing that pressure.

Tervonen also stated that they conceded some of the goals cheaply. However, Tervonen takes responsibility for himself.

– In the end, responsibility for the results rests with ours. Certainly, as a coach, I would be able to better help the team and give a better message before the game that what is important.

Tervonen also sought positive feedback from the evening.

– Both supporters and the entire audience, it’s not easy to cheer for the home team when the game starts to be 6–1, 7–1 and 8–1.

Tappara shares the top spot in the SM league standings with SaiPa with 103 points. However, Tappara has played two matches less. KalPa, on the other hand, is in 7th place with 92 points.
