Jonne Halttunen, 40, who worked as Kalle Rovanperä’s map reader, has left the work of a cartographer behind. He confirms the expected news in his Instagram stories.

The description text of Halttunen’s account now reads “retired map reader”.

Jyväskyläinen is looking for new challenges as a rally driver. He plans to compete in the Finnish series F-Cup next year.

He begins to read Halttunen’s sheet music Tuukka Shemeikka. Parivaljakko represents Jorma J Motorsport in F-Cup and drives a Toyota Corolla GT.

Halttunen already participated in the Jari-Pekka rally this year with Shemeika. In addition, he drove the zero car in the Jyväskylä winter rally and the Kouvola SM rally.

Thoughts in autumn

The ex-map reader told Iltalehti in October that his future is open.

– Of course, I have had discussions with Toyota. If they have positions they like, something management– side jobs, I would be interested. I could also be interested in developing the sport, he said at the time.

– If you can’t find the rally, then it’s probably something on the business side.

Karting had already taken a back seat in Halttunen’s mind when Rovanperä told about his retirement.

– Not directly [kiinnosta kartturoida] – or you might be interested in continuing at the same level. I’m not saying that I wouldn’t continue, but I’m realistic enough that we don’t really have drivers in Finland right now to continue with.

– I may have already seen what there is to see as a karttur.
