Kalle Rovanperä sent a message to Harri’s father after a rough outing

Kalle Rovanperä, who broke ground in the first special stage of the Belgian World Rally Championship, crashed out violently in the second EK.

Kalle Rovanperä’s Toyota left the field with three twists and turns. PDO

His father Harri Rovanperä found out about it while he was still on his way to the rally center. However, Harri didn’t have time to freak out badly.

– I saw it on a video after I got here. The boys are fine, that’s the main thing, he said to Kallen and the map reader Jonne Halttunen about the situation.

Father-Rovanperä received a message from his son that “we’re fine and that’s it.”

– It wasn’t a miraculous place, but the car didn’t turn for some reason.

There was a lot of speed, the car spun around three times in the air and then ended up in a field.

Despite the extensive damage to the car, according to Harri Rovanperä, it is still possible that the pair of competitors will be able to continue the race on the weekend.

– When they get the car here for maintenance, then you’ll see if they can fix it. It is too early to say whether he will be able to continue or not.

Toyota star Rovanperä leads the World Series by 94 points ahead of Hyundai Ott Tänakia and with a difference of 95 points to the Estonian’s teammate, Belgium to Thierry Neuville.

After this, there are only four races left.

Can the championship go sideways anymore?

– You have to drive all the corners first and finish the race. Then we will find out what the situation is, Harri Rovanperä answers.

– Rally is such a sport that anything can and does happen. Nothing is taken for granted, no matter how many points there are. Luck has to be right, and today it wasn’t.

After four special stages, the Belgian rally was led by Rovanperä’s teammate Elfyn Evans before Tänak (+2.2 seconds) and Neuville (+8.8). Fourth was Toyota’s Esapekka Lappi (+21.2).
