Because her husband missed a penalty, Sophia Havertz was met with hostility on the Internet. She made the vile news public.
After national player Kai Havertz missed a penalty in the FA Cup match with Arsenal against Manchester United, his pregnant wife was insulted and threatened on the Internet. Sophia Havertz, who has been married to the footballer since the summer of 2024, posted two examples of messages on Instagram in which she wanted a miscarriage and threatened to kill the unborn child.
She was shocked, Havertz wrote about one of the messages she received privately on the platform. “I hope you are really ashamed of yourselves,” wrote Havertz on Instagram, where she has almost 540,000 followers, and demanded more respect.
Kai Havertz was the only shooter to miss the penalty shootout. For defending champions Manchester United, former Bayern professional Joshua Zirkzee scored the decisive penalty to make it 5-3. Previously, despite being long outnumbered, United had saved themselves from the penalty spot with a 1-1 (1-1, 0-0) score after extra time.
Bruno Fernandes (52nd minute) initially gave the guests the lead in the third round game. Shortly afterwards, United’s Diogo Dalot (61′) was shown a yellow-red card. Shortly afterwards, the Gunners used their superiority to equalize through Brazil international Gabriel (63′).
A short time later, Martin Odegaard missed Arsenal’s possible lead when he missed a controversial penalty (69′). Havertz had previously gone down in the penalty area. The former Leverkusen player was unable to take advantage of several opportunities in regular time and, like Odegaard before him, was ultimately denied from the spot by United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
