Finland’s Eurovision representative Käärijä’s green bolero, which has become a trademark, has been decided to be placed on the roof of the ice rink in Helsinki. Elee would like to wish Käärijä a good trip to Eurovision.
– My own batting skills were not enough to freeze the shirt, but it is a great honor that my bolero is frozen on the roof of the ice rink. There is an insanely loud party at the same place at the end of May, Käärijä commented in the announcement, also referring to his upcoming ice rink gig.
Event manager of the Helsinki Ice Hall Kimmo Oinonen says that the gesture is so far the only one of its kind outside of sports.
– The practice is common with legendary athletes, but at least for us, this is the first suspension of a “game jersey” outside of sports.
However, the wrapper will need his familiar performance outfit on the Eurovision stage in the first semi-final on May 9. After Wednesday’s celebration ceremony, the bolero will be lowered from the ceiling so that the artist can pack it with him to Liverpool.
The Eurovision final broadcast will be broadcast from Liverpool on Saturday evening, May 13.
