Mbangula and Weah push the Bianconeri to fourth place (provisional). The Devil falls badly and loses further contact with the European zone
Juve beat Milan 2-0, avenged the defeat in the Super Cup and achieved a strong victory thanks to which they are confident of recovering from the draw (seven Xs in the previous eight league outings). Goals from Mbangula (decisive deflection by Emerson Royal) and Weah decided in the second half within five minutes. A double slap from which Milan, who had become experts in comebacks with Conceiçao, this time were unable to recover. It is the first defeat for the Portuguese coach. If until now the Rossoneri’s biggest problems had been limited to the first half, in Turin the Devil practically did not enter the pitch in the second half. It must however be said that Juve were more ferocious and convinced – in their pressure, in their attitude – throughout the match, but it is equally true that at the end of the first 45 minutes the clearest opportunities had come at the Rossoneri’s feet (Reijnders, Leao) . Then, in the second round, the Devil practically did not return to the field, Juve continued to step on the accelerator and the goal was only a matter of time. With these three points the Bianconeri overtake Lazio and settle – pending the results of others – in the Champions League zone, in fourth place. But, above all, they push a direct competitor further away: now Milan (who still have a game less) is 6 points away and sees their path to the Champions League becoming even more complicated. The Rossoneri, overtaken by Bologna, sink to eighth place.
