Justice demands communication between GGZ and Theodoor V., who is suspected of killing 20 patients | Interior

The Public Prosecution Service of the Northern Netherlands demands full access to the communication between GGZ Drenthe and nurse Theodoor V, who is suspected of killing twenty corona patients. The GGZ refuses to do so because of professional secrecy.

Theodoor V. was arrested in mid-March. During a conversation with GGZ Drenthe, he would have said several times that as a nurse in the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen he would have killed twenty patients during the corona pandemic. He would have done that to put them out of their misery.

problem for justice that Theodoor V. did not mention the names of his victims. And no information that can be traced back to his victims. That is why the judiciary has to look for ‘deviating information’ in the files of dozens of patients. A tricky job, because the course of the disease was sometimes very erratic and unpredictable, especially at the beginning of the corona pandemic.

So far, much remains unclear about the case. Theodoor V. is also no longer in pre-trial detention and according to his lawyer Tjalling van der Goot, he denies twenty people have already been killed.

GGZ: Justice warned, do not hand in documents

The Public Prosecution Service suspects that there is more going on and wants all information from GGZ Drenthe. He opposes this because of professional secrecy based on the privacy of their clients and has therefore submitted a complaint. The GGZ did make the decision at the time to warn the police and the judiciary, but refused to give all documents about Theodoor V. to the judiciary. The court must now make a decision.

The Northern Netherlands court will rule on Thursday around 1 p.m., a spokesperson said.
