The rugby players of RFC Haarlem did not succeed in becoming national champions. In the final, LRC DIOK from Leiden was just too strong after extra time. The Haarlem-squad lost 35-33.

It was an even battle at Sportpark de Eendracht in Amsterdam. In the first half, Haarlem took a 20-14 lead after trailing 14-10. Still, the team of coach Mike Panoho was halfway behind: 20-24.

DIOK seemed to play it out professionally after the break, but in the last minute Haarlem started for the last time at a deficit of 27-20. The game ended 27-27 via a try and a hit.

Extra time

In extra time, the Haarlem-squad took the lead twice (30-27 and 33-32). Still, it was DIOK that came out on top in the last four minutes to make the decisive point.

The final place for RFC Haarlem was already a great achievement. It was the first season in the league of honor for the North Hollanders.
