Jürgen Klopp and Pepijn Lijnders will leave Liverpool after this season

Success coach Jürgen Klopp will leave Liverpool football club at the end of this season. He announces this with the club in one interview on the website. His Dutch assistant Pepijn Lijnders is also leaving.

“I no longer want to wait for a normal life until it is too late,” the German coach says in the interview. “It is the right time for me and the club, because I can no longer do the job as before. I’m running out of energy.”

Klopp (56) started at a declining Liverpool in 2015. Pepijn Lijnders (41) followed in 2018 as an assistant. In the years that followed they won all the prizes that could be won. Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019, and the following year the club won its first league title in thirty years.

Under Klopp the club attracted more Dutchmen. For example, three Dutchmen are now under contract with captain Virgil van Dijk, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and attacker Cody Gakpo. Previously, Georginio Wijnaldum had a successful period at the club.
