The German national team got their ticket to the 2026 World Cup on Monday by beating Slovakia 6-0. And from the perspective of former national coach Jürgen Klinsmann, the team doesn’t have to worry about the long-term future.
“Germany always manages to throw new talents into the deep end,” said the 61-year-old in an interview with “Transfermarkt”, “that’s why the whole football world envies us.”
Spain and France also have a “great training of talent,” said Klinsmann, “but the Bundesliga is really great for developing young players and bringing them to the top.”
The 1990 World Cup winner rated the development of striker Nick Woltemade (Newcastle United) and defender Yann Aurel Bisseck (Inter Milan) as particularly promising: “Both are playing at the top level in their clubs and will develop more consistency step by step.”

However, the DFB selection was unable to convince Klinsmann overall with their appearances in the 2025 international match year.
“The Nations League defeats were disappointing and not compatible with our German expectations,” summed up the former FC Bayern coach, adding that the year had been “mixed” from the fans’ perspective.
For Klinsmann, national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team is not among the first contenders for triumph at the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico; instead he named Portugal and Brazil.
