Julie Van Espen’s father is relieved after the verdict: “Finally, finally, finally”

The Brussels court of first instance holds the Belgian state liable for the rape and murder of Julie Van Espen. The Van Espen family said during a press conference that they were “relieved”. They can now close the procedure and will therefore not seek greater compensation than the symbolic one euro that was awarded to them: “The lawsuit was purely principled and future-oriented.”
