Julian Nagelsmann is now a vegetarian

The coach of the German record champions gives reasons for the change away from his beloved meatloaf. Julian Nagelsmann is also considering what his nickname at FC Bayern could be in the future.

Julian Nagelsmann will probably get a new nickname. So far, the FC Bayern coach was called “Hacki” because meatloaf, which he also prepared himself, was his favorite dish. But that will be different now: Because the 34-year-old has now revealed: In the future he wants to eat vegetarian.

Maybe he will now be called “Vegan-Hacki” or “Erbsi”, he joked on Friday. Benjamin Pavard, who also gave him his previous nickname, was allowed to make this decision, Nagelsmann said: “Vegan Hacki or Erbsi, whatever he likes better, that’s what he can call me.

Nagelsmann said there were two reasons why he wanted to eat vegetarian food in the future. The most important “keyword” for him is animal welfare, the second is environmental protection. “That also made me give up fish and meat. That’s a topic that should be important to everyone.”
