The rapper’s Berlin show had to be ended early – irritant gas was sprayed, which led to several people in the hospital.

The cause and exact course of events have not yet been clarified, but what is known so far: JPEGMafia’s gig, which appeared at Berlin’s Huxleys Neue Welt on January 20th, came to an early end. The reason for this: someone had sprayed irritant gas. Who and where exactly (in the middle of the crowd or in front of the venue) is unclear. But what is certain is that there are 17 injured people.

What happened

Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, aka JPEGMafia, was already in the middle of his show when the incident happened. According to “dpa”, the police were called to the venue in the capital at 10:10 p.m. At that time there was already talk of a suspected use of irritant gas. The performance was canceled.

On site, people were directed to the parking lot in front of the hall. Several concert goers were found to have respiratory irritations there. Eleven people from the crowd were treated directly at Huxleys, and six people had to be transported to hospital. However, there is no concrete information available here. The police are still in the middle of the investigation.

There has been no public statement from the 35-year-old US rapper himself about the events.
