The memory of Pope Francis with the words of the singer moved the public. A gesture that loaded the entire evening of meaning, full of music, poetry and vibrations.
Jovanotti recalls: “A priest on the outskirts of the world”
During the concert, Jovanotti recalled Pope Francis with heartfelt words: «He was a priest on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, and then became the outskirts of the world. We wanted him a world of good. And he wanted to us». A message that touched everyone, between reflections on the faith, courage and beauty of human love. “There is nothing normal in wanting to love,” he said, comparing the resilience of life to that of the flowers that “always get up”. Eternal spring, between poetry and memory
Jovanotti intertwined the memory of the Pope with Pablo Neruda’s poetry: “They will be able to cut all the flowers, but they will never stop spring.” A powerful image, taken up to describe the figure of Francesco as “Another South American in love with poetry”who dreamed of “an eternal spring”. At that moment the public responded with a very long applause, a wave of collective affection. Jovanotti himself was moved, beating his hands and letting silence and poetry tell what words cannot be told.
The Jovanotti concert canceled for the Pope’s funeral
After numerous controversies, the singer decided to cancel the date of next Saturday, April 26, so as not to interfere with the pontiff’s funeral. The concert was reprogrammed for the following day, Sunday 27 April.
