Jörn Andersen remains Hong Kong coach

contract expired

Jörn Andersen remains Hong Kong coach. As the national association HKFA announced, the 60-year-old’s contract, which originally expired at the end of July, has been extended to 2025. The former Bundesliga striker has been in charge of the team since November 2021 and has managed 11 games for Hong Kong, ranked 147th in the FIFA World Rankings, in which he has won three. Under his leadership, they qualified for the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar for the first time since 1968.

Already at the beginning of April he had said in the Transfermarkt interview that from his point of view there was nothing standing in the way of an extension. “I feel absolutely fine, there has to be an extraordinary offer. In addition, I really want to look after Hong Kong at the Asian Cup next year.”
