The exhibition on his life’s work has just been completed – but the designer Wolfgang Joop (80) can already imagine a new project.
“I would still like a malignant cynical, funny book,” said Joop of the German Press Agency. “You experienced so many anecdotes”. The designer living in Potsdam will be 81 in November.
In his hometown, an exhibition on his life’s work is open for visitors from Saturday: inside (until November 18). The stage fright is great, he said. “I am no longer completely made for the whole excitement.”
The retrospective in the Kuntraum Potsdam provides an insight into the creative creation of Joops with exhibits that have not yet been shown. In addition to fashion designs, numerous of his paintings and sculptures can be seen. Monkeys and angels are central motifs of his art.
Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, and Jil Sander is one of the most successful German fashion designers: inside. In addition, the designer, who used to live in Hamburg and New York, wrote several books. At ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’ he was seen as a juror alongside Heidi Klum.
