He is one of Bayer Leverkusen’s top performers. However, Jonathan Tah will no longer extend his expiring working paper.
In July, Bayer Leverkusen ends: Jonathan Tah will leave the German champion in summer. The national player made it clear after the 1-1 at FC St. Pauli. “Yes,” replied the defender when asked whether his farewell after the end of the season was certain. The club was “definitely” informed about it, Tah continues.
Already at the beginning of the season, the 29-year-old had announced not to extend his contract with the Werkelf. Nevertheless, Bayer had tried to convince him of the whereabouts. It is still unclear where the central defender is going.
FC Barcelona with coach Hansi Flick is considered the possible new employer. However, the top Spanish club had difficulty registering new players – for example in the case of Dani Olmo, who once played for RB Leipzig.
Tah emphasized that there was no specific time window for the signature at a new club. “But the club knows about it. And it is very openly communicated by me,” he said. The decision to leave Leverkusen was made early – and it stays with it. Tah has been under contract with Bayer since 2015. With the club, he most recently celebrated the winning of the Doubles from the championship and DFB Cup.
