In the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart recapitulated the drama surrounding the Freedom 250 concert, which he was “so excited about”.

Stewart explained that the live concert series, scheduled to take place in Washington, DC, has “encountered some problems.” Several of the originally announced artists, including Bret Michaels and Martina McBride, withdrew for political reasons. “Damn, they didn’t want to be a part of Donald Trump’s personal and political concert,” Stewart said. “Is anyone else performing?”

He then played a clip in which Vanilla Ice expressed his excitement for the concert, which is being held to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. “There we have it! See? Everyone canceled, but not Vanilla Ice,” Stewart exclaimed. “Vanilla Ice didn’t throw in the towel. He saw a problem and, yo, he solved it.”

C+C Music Factory is sticking with it

He added: “And by the way, the other artist that isn’t dropping out either is C+C Music Factory – who, as you know, have suffered badly from globalization and the relocation of most of America’s music factories overseas.”

Stewart said the group’s frontman, Freedom Williams, had an “interesting perspective” on the situation. He played a video Williams posted of himself sitting on the toilet while addressing concerns surrounding the event. “Sir, if this isn’t a good time, we can continue the conversation later,” Stewart replied. “But let’s look away from where he’s filming the video, his Katniss and Peeta fanfic shirt and the cottage-core wallpaper.”

Williams then said: “I don’t give a fuck about Trump. I give a fuck about Trump’s family. I don’t know the guy. I’m from New York. I know the kind of chaos he causes. But the day I allow you motherfuckers to tell me what to do is the day I die.”

The booking agent is called Epstein

Stewart noted that Williams’ freak-out wasn’t the strangest thing “that’s happened in the organization of this concert.” As it turns out, many of the artists share the same booking agent: Jeff Epstein of Universal Attractions.

“Ta-da!” Stewart responded. “What the hell? Jeff Epstein of Universal Attractions is in charge of – excuse me – talent acquisition for a Donald Trump party? Now someone is going to explain that to me? So when planning our country’s 250th birthday, someone had to walk into Donald Trump’s office and say, ‘I know just the guy’? How sorry do you feel for that man? After years of being ‘not that Epstein,’ he finally gets all his acts booked. It all comes down to Epstein. And then it all falls apart. He “I thought he would finally get his happy ending – but no, once again he’s left out in the cold.”

Trump offers himself as a headliner

Over the weekend, Trump offered to appear at the event himself. In a rambling post on Truth Social on Saturday, the president wrote: “I hear artists are ‘getting the yips’ about their performance on Wednesday, so I’m thinking about bringing in the number one attraction in the world, the man who surpasses even Elvis in his heyday in audience numbers, and that’s without a guitar – the man who loves our country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the greatest president in history (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP to replace these high-paid, third-rate ‘artists’ and give a big speech that moves the country forward, just like I have done since I became President!”

He later suggested simply canceling the event. “We should have a huge MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY for the 250th anniversary instead instead of having overpriced singers that no one wants to hear, whose music is boring and who do nothing but complain,” he posted on Truth Social late Saturday afternoon. “Cancellations, just as I canceled my involvement in the dilapidated and unsafe Kennedy Center because a highly biased, corrupt federal judge ruled that I should not be allowed to use my time and money to MAKE THE CENTER GREAT AGAIN – in fact, greater than ever!”
