Joker fans throw their money into HIFK’s coffers – “I hope they will be happy”

HIFK collects the money when the Joker fans quench their thirst and hunger at the Helsinki ice rink.

Jokerit returns to Nordis this fall after a 26-year hiatus. PDO

The Jokerit will play their 11 Mestis home games in the starting season in Helsinki’s old ice hall, or more familiarly, Nordis. It is actually HIFK’s home hall.

However, HIFK benefits significantly financially from the matches played by the Jokers at Nordis, as HIFK runs the ice rink’s restaurant operations through its Red Events Restaurants company.

Consequently, the spectators of Jokerien’s Nordis matches gain weight when they eat or drink the coffers of their local rival HIFK.

– You can say it that way, but we strive to serve all customers well, comments the chairman of the board of Red Events Restaurants Timo Everi.

– But that’s how it goes. Someone always provides those services, and some have to pay for them.

However, Everi, who is known as the former chairman of HIFK, promises Joker fans that the restaurant services at Mestis matches will be of a high standard.

– I hope they will be happy that the quality of services has improved even more.

According to Ever, the goal is that the restaurant and event production operations acquired by HIFK this year would double HIFK’s turnover.

Jokeri’s first Mestis match at Nordis will be played on Wednesday, September 27. Jokerit plays its Nordis matches in its familiar nostalgic color from the 1990s.
