British media reported on Wednesday that the prime minister would have intervened personally to have animals evacuated from Afghanistan. Sky News was aware of new emails released by Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday. The committee is investigating how London dealt with the Afghanistan crisis last summer.

On August 25, a Foreign Affairs official sent an email to the service responsible for the evacuation of “special cases” from Afghanistan. It asks that a particular animal charity be able to evacuate its staff and animals. The mail refers to the evacuation that a similar organization, Nowzad, had obtained for personnel and animals, from the prime minister.

Johnson said in Wales on Thursday that the British military has always given priority to people. “And that was completely right,” said BoJo. “These new allegations are complete nonsense.”
