He was still at 3 Hours Vurraf this year, but now Johnny Purple is going through a nightmare. The carnival artist has lost his voice and has to cancel all his performances. Purple now spends the party of the year alone at home in his suit. “The porcelain pony will remain in the stable for the next few days,” says the excited singer.
It is that a Pick your Cracker has already been chosen this year, but according to Johnny Purple he had a great chance now. “If you hear my voice now, that’s really a cracker,” he says with a wink. The Roeptoetmobile stopped at Purple’s doorstep and had a get well soon package for him. He got a bag of licorice and licorice tea. “I can use it right now.”
Have to cancel everything
Today he would do a tour through Brabant and also make a stop in the Fijnfisjenie Café. “I’m also in great shape, but my voice really lets me down.” When he woke up last night and heard his voice, Johnny Purple knew it was wrong. “I was not able to call off the halls and parties, but I had to text them. My voice just couldn’t do it anymore.”
Johnny Purple is already looking forward to carnival next year. “It always works out, but not in the coming days and I really have to go flat.” No more Porcelain Pony, no more Heat Stroke and no Goat In The Cafe this year. “How I would like to walk in the polonaise again, but unfortunately I first have to find my voice again.”
