The film ‘Modigliani’, based on the play by Dennis McIntyre, is about the life of the painter and sculptor in Paris in 1916. The artist, who at the time had little confidence in his own abilities, lived there for 48 hours that change and make sure that he eventually becomes a great one. Shooting should start next spring in Europe.
Depp calls it an ‘honour’ to be able to translate Modigliani’s life story to the silver screen. “It was a life of great hardship, but ultimately triumphs. That is a universal story that all viewers can identify with.” The actor directed his first feature film, ‘The Brave’ in 1997. In it he was seen together with Marlon Brando. Also at Modigliani, Depp gets help from a big star. Al Pacino will co-produce the film.
