Johnny de Mol has been sidelined for the time being at SBS 6’s Oranje talk show. There is no role for him on this program in the summer. “No longer at place Hélène Hendriks.”
It seems that SBS 6 is listening to the fierce criticism from viewers and critics of the way Johnny de Mol took over De Oranjezomer from Hélène Hendriks last year, because this year we don’t seem to see him back on the program. The channel has announced its summer programming and it appears that Johnny is only allowed to take a World Cup quiz.
No Johnny
Johnny’s quiz will be shown during the four evenings prior to the start of the Football World Cup, but after that he will have to make way for the real stars of the channel: from Monday to Thursday, Onderwijs Inside will broadcast twice an evening, followed by De Oranjezomer from Friday to Sunday. Also twice a night.
Who will present De Oranjezomer? Just Hélène Hendriks. Johnny will no longer be present this summer. “If you listen carefully, you will hear that there has been a bit of a reshuffle, because if we compare it with previous summers, Johnny de Mol is no longer allowed to take over De Oranjezomer,” says Rob Goossens in RTL Boulevard.
Mutual
TV critic Rob understands that we no longer see Johnny there. “Well, I don’t think it was entirely to everyone’s liking, so he can now take the World Cup Quiz.”
He continues: “It also seems a bit like they have started to spare Johan Derksen, because they are all on the air seven days a week, they sometimes do two broadcasts a day, but Johan, who is elderly, is free three or four days a week anyway. I think that is simply better for him than seven days and just keep going.”
Three shows
On some evenings, VI and De Oranjezomer will be shown not two, but three evenings a week. “There is one match of the Dutch national team at one o’clock in the morning,” Rob explains.
“I can imagine that one of the ideas is to make a broadcast after that match for the night owls who saw the match and still want to chat.”
