John de Mol (69) is not happy that Catherine Keyl (78) was at the table at Today Inside last week. “He has insisted on bringing more fresh young women to the table.”
It’s no secret that John de Mol has some pretty old-fashioned views when it comes to women on TV. He once fired the older Hart van Nederland ladies and Marc-Marie Huijbregts confronted him about this in DWDD: “Are you the one who says: ‘Hart van Nederland is very good, but it needs younger presenters?’”
Expiration date
John beat around the bush a bit. “No, that’s not me by definition, but that happens in meetings. You know how it goes, you also work in television. The same thing happened with the news at RTL 4. If you start working in TV, there is a certain expiration date. I always find it strange that people react to that with a bit of surprise.”
It is funny that this expiration date apparently only applies to women, Angela de Jong sneered. “We all know perfectly well that he is only referring to presenters and not to presenters.”
Patty fat again
Indeed, we all know that very well. John de Mol even included a clause in Patty Brard’s contract — point 3.3 — that he could fire her if she became fat again. “I would then be given two months to get back to my old weight or the contract would be terminated.”
Of course, the men at Talpa don’t get these kinds of things in the contract either. For example, would Gordon also have received such a weight clause? Patty doesn’t think so. “And probably not with John’s son either,” she sneered.
Fresh women
In any case, five years later John appears not to have changed a bit. He was disturbed by the visit of 78-year-old Catherine Keyl to Today Inside last week.
Johan Derksen reveals in the yesterday’s broadcast: “Well, I must also say that in my last conversation with Mr. De Mol, he insisted on women and also some fresh young women… Because he was not dancing with that old lady who was sitting here.”
Very good
Wilfred Genee does not share that opinion. “Catherine Keyl. He did a really nice job.”
Johan: “Yes, he did very well, yes.”
Valentijn Driessen: “I also liked Catherine Keyl.”
Wilfred: “She’s not that old. 78. Not too bad.”
René van der Gijp: “Not too bad.”
Could it have something to do with the fact that Catherine recently spoke extremely critically about Linda de Mol? Where is Albert Verlinde’s niece when you need her…
