Norway’s and currently the world’s number one male skier Johannes Kläbo tells VGthat he doesn’t want to meet his girlfriend at the World Championships starting in two weeks.
It may sound cruel, because the superstar’s crush Pernille Dösvik arrives in Planica from the west coast of Canada all the way from Vancouver, where he has spent a semester as an exchange student.
Kläbo’s mother also has to watch the skier’s performance from a distance. The biggest favorite for success in the Games avoids possible infections like other top players and therefore keeps his circle small.
– I’m not going to meet them. I’m going to see dad, but not the others. You have to be careful, especially in the beginning. However, one must not become completely delusional. I don’t want to experience the same as the Olympics. I was already tired before the start of the Games, says the Norwegian skier.
For Kläbo, the presence of a girlfriend is important for a skier, even if there is a safety gap.
– Maybe we can look at each other from afar. Maybe blink a little. I believe his family will also be there. A lot of people are coming to watch, and it’s going to be fun.
Children are also taken into account in the Norwegian national team. According to VG, national team skiers Sjur Röthe and Paul Golberg don’t let their children go to daycare during the Games, where idiots can easily get around.
