Johan Derksen is not impressed by the battalion of well-known women who speak out against the ‘toxic’ WNL boss Bert Huisjes. “That girl from Tukkerland blows up balloons!”
The large, revealing AD article about the misconduct of WNL boss Bert Huisjes is extremely credible and this is largely due to the reactions of Roos Moggré, Eva Jinek, Nikki Herr, Leonie ter Braak, Margreet Spijker and Merel Westrik. Despite the fact that they confirm the abuses by name, Johan Derksen is not impressed.
Girls from province
Johan thinks that all those ladies just don’t understand that Bert Huisjes had to rule with a heavy hand to get his fledgling broadcaster WNL on the right track. “Then all the girls from the province of the regional broadcasters come and sit there, but every discussion they had was about the content of the topics.”
He continues Today Inside: “And as editor-in-chief with a bunch of them rookies you have to be on top of the topics, because young editors with little experience take up a topic and turn it into a carnival. So I understand very well that the man was on top of it.”
Tutje from Tukkerland
Doesn’t Johan find it significant that so many people stand up against Bert by name? “Those types who are still complaining about that 11 years later, they should have said something then. And who are they? That little girl from Tukkerland who is blowing up balloons somewhere. So she didn’t make it,” he says about Leonie ter Braak.
He continues: “And then there is that Merel, who is grumbling next to her sister on the couch. That didn’t make it either. So those Huisjes had a very good view. That was just an excellent editor-in-chief. Because Sven and Jort, you don’t hear them complaining. They can do something.”
Peeps
According to Johan, Bert is a very good manager. “An editor-in-chief has to keep all those peeps in the wheelbarrow and not give them free rein to spread nonsense so that it becomes their channel. They just have to read out what the editors give on the teleprompter.”
Wilfred Genee: “Isn’t Eva Jinek capable of something and didn’t feel very happy?”
Johan: “No, but they saw it through and now I’m complaining a bit.”
Wolves in the forest
Wilfred says he can hardly take Johan seriously anymore. “Eva howls with the wolves in the forest, you say.”
Johan: “Yes, I think it’s nonsense. I read that story. I think: well, I would appoint that man in a heartbeat, excellent editor-in-chief.”
