Johan Derksen hits back at Ilse Warringa, who spoke with disdain about Today Inside at the table at Shownieuws. “Then I think: dude, what are you talking about?” says the television mustache.

Actress Ilse Warringa is very concerned that there are such cuts in public broadcasting. She states that her ratings hit De Luizen Moeder would never have existed without the NPO. The commercial people would never have dared to do something so cultural and artistic, she believes. According to her, it would have been too outspoken for RTL or SBS.

Soap opera

When Ronald Molendijk objects at the table at Shownieuws that Today Inside is also an outspoken program, she becomes completely toxic. “That’s just a talk show (makes a dismissive gesture, ed.). That’s not culture, right? That’s just a talk show. That has nothing to do with making something, does it?”

What does Johan think about that? He responds Today Inside: “Mrs. Warringa was chatting there. She did a nice job with De Luizen Moeder. I really enjoyed that, but she is now talking as if she has won the biggest prize in Hollywood with a bestselling film. Well, it was about a soap opera, right?”

Friends

René van der Gijp points out that Ilse had some success in our country, but not that she is the brain behind a global hit like Friends. “Then you have to talk about Friends and stuff, come on. That’s great!”

Johan: “Yes, and then say: ‘We need the public broadcaster for such a series, because it would not be a success with commercials.’ Then I think: dude, what are you talking about?”

Wilfred Genee: “The Lice Mother could have been done at SBS?”

Johan: “Yes, why not?”

Contemptuous

She’s a weird chick, Johan thinks. “For the rest, she was absolutely right that we are not a culture. We have a presenter here who only wants to sing ugly songs and then we have one who only wants to talk about football and one who keeps talking about wolves! Well, that is not a culture!”

He concludes: “But the tone shows some contempt, and she also overestimates her own series a bit. It was fun, nothing more than that. What came after was a complete failure.”
