Johan Derksen is not very happy with the sponsor who has been constantly appearing on Today Inside lately: the Kippie chicken chain. “It’s all made from chickens that never come outside.”

It is starting to become a bit irritating for many viewers how much sponsor Kippie is being pushed by the men of Today Inside. Wilfred Genee in particular tries to continuously draw attention to the company’s ‘chicken pans’. Johan Derksen, however, is slightly less enthusiastic about it, he says Today Inside.

Fluffy chickens

Johan looks at the sponsor critically. “Wilfred, I don’t want to be a spoilsport, but you are talking about Kippie, but Wakker Dier and the Animal Protection Society are a bit gloomy about Kippie, because it is all made from chickens that never come outside, right?”

Wilfred is speechless: “Okay, I didn’t know that, but…”

Johan: “Yes. I also found that out by chance, but then I thought: yes…”

Fact checking

Wilfred refers to studio guest Chris Woerts. “Then you should take a look at Chris, because Chris has brought in Kippie as a sponsor.”

Chris: “Let me fact-check it for you.”

Johan: “Well, they will deny it, but those kinds of official bodies always have the data reasonably organized.”

Chris: “It could well be, but I don’t know exactly how it works. I think they only do responsible chicken. They are all Dutch chickens.”

Free-range chickens

Johan is serious about it. “They are not free-range chickens.”

Chris: “I don’t know. Well, Dutch chickens.”

Johan: “Dutch pop chickens.”

Hélène Hendriks: “That’s the most important thing! Dutch chickens!”

René van der Gijp: “Can you taste that, Chris? Whether it is a free-range chicken or whether it has only been indoors?”

Chris: “It’s all good, man.”

Other sponsor

Wilfred already senses the mood. “I think we have to look for another sponsor again.”

Johan: “Yes, but I think that when animals are the subject, you always have to be nuanced about it.”

Hélène concludes: “Yes, I agree.”
