Job final in the Champions League? Gerardo Seoane speaks out

Head coach Gerardo Seoane from Bayer Leverkusen was relaxed ahead of his personal final at FC Porto.

“I can deal with this situation well and focus on my task,” said the 43-year-old on Monday at the final press conference before the away game in Portugal on Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN).

With Porto, “a difficult opponent with a lot of experience in the squad” is waiting for the ailing Leverkusen team. “In terms of the balance of power and the current form, it’s a very balanced game,” said the Swiss.

His team was “disappointed” after the clear 4-0 defeat against FC Bayern at the weekend and “self-critically questioned what’s missing at the moment,” said Seoane: “It’s a difficult situation, the results are not satisfactory.”

On Sunday, CEO Fernando Carro emphasized in a one-two at Sport1 that Bayer was “prepared”. He demanded two wins from his coach in the upcoming games against Porto and FC Schalke in the league at the weekend.

They want to continue with Seoane, but the coach must expect to be fired if there are further setbacks.
