Now the question has answered whether the incident was an accident in front of Jennifer Aniston’s Villa: it happened with full purpose – and more: she should have been bothered for two years.

From the obsession to act: when stalking becomes reality

On Monday (May 5th), a man with his car targeted the entrance gate of her property in the noble Bel-Air district of Los Angeles. There he was first recorded by security guards and then arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on site for vandalism. In the meantime, John Wayne Carwyle (48) from Mississippi is also on trial for stalking.

According to district prosecutor Nathan J. Hochman, Carwyle Jennifer Aniston has repeatedly been bothered by social media, emails and voice messages since March 2023. According to media reports, he is also said to have described the actress in online posts as his “bride” and “soul mate”. The defendant threatens up to three years in prison.

In his press statement, Hochman also says: “Stalking is a crime that can very quickly develop from harassment to dangerous, violent acts and threatens the security of the victims and our communities.” The stalker phenomenon is nothing new in Hollywood for a long time, but social media promotes the origin and preserving a parasocial relationship.

Aniston’s second stalking case

Jennifer Aniston was in her house at the time of the incident, but never came into contact with the perpetrator. The entrance gate was badly damaged, Aniston itself was not injured.

The “Friends” actress has not yet publicly commented on the incident. However, it is not the first time that it is confronted with a stalker. As early as 2010, a man received an injunction after wrongly claiming to be in a relationship with her.
