Jenni Vartiainen now talks about returning to Finland: “I missed home”

Jenni Vartiainen reveals to Iltalehti what the Americans knew about Finland.

Recently returned to Finland from the United States Jenni Vartiainen told Iltalehte on Wednesday at the continuation of Linna’s celebrations that returning to the homeland feels good.

– It’s been wonderful to share life with family and friends, to be able to perform after a long time and also play songs that I’ve been making for years, says Vartiainen.

– It’s a really good and happy feeling.

While living in the United States, Vartiainen lived in the spirit of Independence Day, for example by following Linna’s celebrations online or having dinner with her Finnish friends.

Editor of Iltalehti Mari Pudas asks if the move to Finland is permanent.

– What is permanent in life now, but now it’s good like this and we’re stable here, Vartiainen answers.

“Capital of Sweden”

Vartiainen tells how well Finland is known on the other side of the Atlantic.

Or not known.

– In fact, I feel that getting to know Finland or the rest of the world in general is perhaps not in the best shape, Vartiainen formulates.

– Sometimes it came that “oh Finland, the capital of Sweden” or something similar, Vartiainen says.

– But it was funny to notice that Sanna Marin was on the lips of many people there and many people knew Sanna Marin. It was amazing to see.

“Good, nice things”

Vartiainen recently released a new single Yarn. The musician says that the initial impetus for the song came from the “dark moments” of the corona year 2020. The guard’s first child had been born, and one day he caught the song.

– I longed for home and somewhere safe by myself, so inspired by him, this song started.

Vartiainen says that he is very happy with the reception of the song.

– We now share important things with people with affection, and it’s wonderful to hear the stories of how people take that song for themselves. (It) is really valuable, Vartiainen says.

The coming year will be busy. Vartiainen will spend a lot of time in the studio.

– Full of good, nice things, Vartiainen describes his expectations.
