Jenna Sirki and his mother Janita Sirki both fell ill with gynecological cancers within a year of each other. They talk about it in the Akuutti documentary shown on TV1 today Cancer patients of lucky stars.

In January 2024, Jenna noticed her stomach swelling. 25-year-old Jenna didn’t think about it any more and didn’t see a doctor.

In July, Jenna fell on an electric scooter.

– I went to the emergency room and they said that I have a lot of fluid in my stomach, Jenna tells Akuutti.

A cyst had burst in Jenna’s stomach. Five liters of liquid were removed from the stomach.

At the same time, it was noticed that the second ovary is large. Jenna returned to the hospital for further tests. During the operation, a malignant tumor with a diameter of 14 cm was removed.

– I was lucky in the accident that I fell, Jenna says. Otherwise, the cancer would have gone undetected.

The doctor announced that Jenna must start cytostatic treatments.

– It took me a while to realize what a deal. Hair falls out and hair falls out. It was the end of the world. I cried and cried, Jenna says.

Hair loss was a hard place for Jenna, harder than a cancer diagnosis. In the documentary, Jenna presents several of her wigs. Red is Jenna’s favorite.

Along with the harsh treatments, Jenna received an ovarian reserve drug to preserve her fertility. Jenna’s dream is to have her own child someday.

Jenna’s mother, Janita, survived without hair-removing cytostat treatment. Janita’s ectopic cancer was operated on three times.

– I got a pimple, a birthmark or something like that. It bothered me. Over the years I said that many times. It was said that we will follow when it looks so cool. Well, that’s how neat it was when it was cancer, Janita recalls.

The cancer destroyed Janita’s clitoris, but otherwise the recovery has progressed well.
