JC Penney promotes Katie Mullen to Chief Customer Officer

US retailer JC Penney has given Katie Mullen additional responsibilities. The manager, who previously served as chief digital officer, had been appointed chief customer officer, the company announced on Thursday.

In her new role, Mullen will remain responsible for e-commerce strategy and omnichannel business development, but will also be responsible for areas directly related to customer contact, such as marketing and data analysis, the retailer explained. The goal is to “create an all-inclusive, integrated shopping experience that is relevant to today’s consumers.”

Mullen joined JC Penney in January 2022 and has since played an “important role” in ongoing reform efforts, according to the company. Previously, she held the position of Chief Digital Officer at the retail group Neiman Marcus Group.
