Jason Momoa has perhaps played Aquaman a little too often in the DC Universe. You didn’t really know how to get started with his character anyway, so a reorientation in the already stagnant comic film program really makes sense.

If James Gunn tries to breathe new life into the DC films, then Momoa will be there again. In “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” (theatrical release June 26, 2026), however, he will finally play a drawn character for whom he is tailor-made: Lobo.

How “Deadline” reports, the ex-“Game of Thrones” star is already scheduled for a guest appearance as the bullying, drinking anti-hero from space, who has so far received little screen time.

Is Jason Momoa getting his own Lobo movie?

Previously, Lobo only had a live-action appearance in the television series “Krypton” (2019), portrayed by Emmett J. Scanlan. In the series, which tells the backstory of Superman’s home planet, Lobo appears in the second season. Now there is even talk of a Lobo film of his own, also with Momoa. But so far there are only rumors about it.

“I collect comics, although not as often as I used to, but [Lobo] has always been my favorite and I’ve always wanted to play it because I’m like, ‘Hello? This is the perfect role for me, hopefully they call me,'” Momoa posted on Instagram of a previous interview with him. He commented succinctly: “You called.”

Little is known about the new Supergirl film. Milly Alcock (“House of the Dragon”) will play the lead role and Matthias Schoenaerts will play the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Craig Gillespie will direct and Ana Nogueira wrote the screenplay. ZBut first a new Superman flies across the big screen.

For Momoa, the Lobo mission could also be a kind of detox program to make him forget his role in the upcoming “Minecraft” film adventure.
