Jasmin Kähärä fell in the opening competition of the Finnish Cup of skiing in Vuokatti.

Jasmi Joensuu’s start of the season went perfectly. Jussi Saarinen

Jasmi Joensuu won the sprint opening of the Finnish Cup of skiing in Vuokatti. He was also first in the same competition last year.

Jasmin Kähärää was considered Joensuu’s biggest challenger in the final, but he fell in the final moments of the route on the downhill while chasing the top skiers. Kähärä finished sixth.

Sivakoi took second place in the competition Anni Alakoskiand placed third Anni Lindroos. Alakoski suffered a broken pole in the semi-finals and was about to stop skiing, but in the end his day turned around for the best.

In the men’s sprint final Lauri Lepistö had to get tight at the end when Olli Ahonen gave a strong resistance. In the end, the pre-favorite held his ground. Ike Melnitz took third place.

– A slight change to the podium positions right away, that’s quite positive, Sami Jauhojärvi comment on the day’s issue in Viaplay’s studio.

– A good cycle, even if those podium places will not necessarily come again this season for Melnits, Lindroos and skiers like this. But the direction is good, Jussi Eskola said.
