Keijon minutes were long at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. In the end, the wait was rewarded.

Jack Russell Terrier Keijo rejoiced forever and bounced when Jasmi Joensuu finally arrived in Finland with his suitcases. The reunion was emotional on both sides.

Jasmi Joensuu admitted that the last days at Zhangjiakou were long. At times, even from the ceiling of the room, water could flow through. The return home felt extremely good.

– I expected to have a second chance to race, but it didn’t come. At the same time, they were certainly educational days.

Father Timo-Jaakko and Soil frost-mother have been in close contact with her daughter. Keijo has delighted Joensuu from Finland.

– Almost every day there are video calls in which Keijok has been involved. They have actually been Keijo calls, when we agreed not to talk much else, the Joensuu family said and the dog confirmed it by sniffing the microphone, Father Joensuu said.

The journey was also mentally difficult. Joensuu told IL that staying out of the messaging team was a really tough place. The personal journey, the free sprint, ended in gruesome disappointment when the rod broke.

– You probably have to have these bad experiences to make the good ones feel even better. The hard credit is that there will be better days, Joensuu reiterated his trip to Beijing.

Bubble life

It is certain that the family will stand as a skier in support of both good and bad days

– It is the parent’s job to be an enabler. We do not set ourselves goals, Kirsi and Timo-Jaakko Joensuu said together.

Joensuu’s parents also spent two weeks in a “corona bubble life” before Joensuu left for Beijing.

– The pandemic was the most exciting. It was not possible to know if he was still ill on the spot in China. When we found out that the athlete got to the spot healthy, it made it easier. Yes, we knew the arrangements were well taken care of and we were able to trust that the athletes were safe, Kirsi Joensuu said.

“Life wins”

In a week, it’s time to race again. On Thursday, Joensuu will take part in the Helsinki Ski Weeks sprint event at the Olympic Stadium. The World Cup race in Lahti is ahead this weekend.

Recovery is enough both mentally and physically.

– Probably now easier when you got out of China. Life wins, and this is just skiing, Joensuu smiled.

The father and mother wanted to offer their daughter the most pleasant return home possible.

– There is traditional, Finnish home-cooked food there, and after that we will spend a peaceful evening at home. Fresh buns are also waiting.

Jasmi Joensuu was disappointed in Beijing, but believes that after that the successes will feel even better. PASSI FLAME
