Author Jari Tervo and journalist Jani Halme have started a new joint podcast called Tervo & Halme.
At the beginning of the first episode of the podcast, Jari Tervo talks about his health. Tervo has recently had an operation.
– Well, that. I feel very good now, which is because I had a pacemaker installed two weeks ago, Tervo begins.
– Lord my blood! What does that mean? Halme asks.
– It means that my heart is now galloping at a good pace. It [prosessi] so it’s like the surgeon makes a big wound with a knife in me, and then really digs. I could feel him digging and scouring the ground like a dog to find a hidden bone, making room for this pacer. The wires then go to the heart and it then keeps the heart in good rhythm, Tervo continues in the podcast.
Tervo has talked about his heart problems publicly. In 2015, Tervo suffered from strange symptoms during the filming of TV1’s Uutisvuoto celebration episode. He was sweating and turning pale and gray. Immediately after filming, Tervo told Iltalehte, who was there, that the recordings were the hardest of his life.
Tervo later had a minor heart operation due to arrhythmia.
In 2024, Tervo said in his book Ukko and Mökki (Otava) that he fell ill with prostate cancer in December 2022. In December 2024, Tervo said that he is in good health.
