Jari-Matti Latvala was a disappointed man at the end of the first good day of the Finnish World Rally.

Toyota’s team manager Jari-Matti Latvala Racing again in Jyväskylä in the WRC2 class. And on Friday it became clear that the 40-year-old Tuurinen had not come to play for his festive competition.

On Friday, Latvala had a ten -second lead in his class. However, in the special stage of Saarikka, he suffered from rainfall and fell fourth from the tip.

When Latvala finally stepped in front of the microphones, he breathed deeply and told the cause of his disappointment.

– This has been a pretty tight day, Latvala sighed.

– There has been a lot of battle when the weather has changed a lot. We already had a really good situation, but in Saarikka we lost a lot. I tried to start driving back, but we had a little technical problem in the last special stage. It went a bit of emotion, so I had to calm down a bit, Latvala explained.

“Too serious!”

The Finnish driver’s own active career ended five years ago, and at the beginning of 2021 he moved to the Toyota team manager. But driving desires have not disappeared from Latvala.

It became very clear on Friday: Latvala wants to seriously win in the WRC2 World Cup.

– Apparently I’m taking this a little too serious! I started to get too excited. It was already beginning to look that I could do well and it created a competitive spirit. When I got a little setback, I took it a little too seriously.

– Of course, it’s nice to be able to drive well.
