In the Australian Open, the first grand slam tennis tournament of the season, Italian Jannik Sinner beat American Ben Shelton in the men’s singles and reached the semi-finals.

Quarter-final matches were held in the evening session of the 11th day of the tournament in Melbourne.

In the tournament, Sinner, the world number 2 in men’s singles and the champion of the last two years, beat world number 8 Shelton 3-0 with sets of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4 and made his name into the semi-finals.

Sinner will face the 4th seeded Serbian player Novak Djokovic, a 10-time Australian Open champion, in his fight to reach the final.
