Jan van den Bos has been appointed as the new chairman of the Actual Damage Committee (CWS) as of October 1, 2023. This was announced today in the Government Gazette.

In order to improve and accelerate the handling of additional damage for affected parents, the new chairman will be tasked with implementing a number of changes in the working methods and composition of the CWS. For example, an operational director has been appointed and the committee is looking at ways to work more efficiently. The aim of the adjustments is to ensure that the work of the committee is better aligned with what parents need. The new design should ensure that more parents are helped faster. In this way, backlogs can be cleared up.

Van den Bos about his appointment: “Many affected parents have been hit hard by the benefits affair. As the new chairman of the Actual Damage Committee, I want to contribute to the recovery for affected families and I will therefore fully commit myself to further improving and accelerating the handling of additional damage. I will be working on that from day one.”

Van den Bos has a long track record of service within the national government. For example, he was inspector general of the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate and inspector general of the Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate. Previously, he held the position of Director-General of Labor Market Policy and Assistance at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. He also worked at the Ministries of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
