Jan Smit seems to be screwing his sister Monique Smit really hard with a quite unprofessional act of revenge. Her children’s songs for the holidays have been removed from Spotify by his label.
Monique Smit has had a lot of musical success for years, especially in the children’s genre, but her fans can no longer go to Spotify for her Sinterklaas and Christmas songs. The singer herself came out about this via Instagram, because she says she receives a lot of questions about it and wants to prevent even more questions.
Too bad
What exactly does Monique say? She writes down Insta: “Over the past two weeks, I have been receiving dozens of DMs, apps and emails every day from followers, schools, daycare centers, organizations and friends asking where my Sinterklaas and Christmas songs for children have gone on Spotify.”
She continues: “Unfortunately, my then record company recently removed these songs. Since the Good Saint is arriving back in our country this weekend and my inbox will probably explode, I will do it the same way. What a shame!”
Big toddler
Monique’s former record label is that of her brother Jan Smit, who is apparently out for revenge – the two have been at odds with each other for years. “There. This is next level showbiz in the Netherlands. Jan Smit, a really sympathetic brother. You need it from your family. #teamMonique,” writes TV authority Tina Nijkamp on her analysis channel.
This action by Jan follows the rumor that he is keeping Monique out of the Muziekfeest op het Plein. “Monique keeps it neat and says little about it, but let’s be honest, Jan is gradually coming across as a big toddler,” according to the juice channel Juice Channel.
