Skating – Jan Roelof Kruithof from Havelte has lost the world record for 24 hours of skating after 31 years. Student Jochem Kerssies (25) broke the record of Kruithof today on the ice of Kardinge in Groningen.
Kerssies crossed the finish line at 7 p.m. and skated a distance of approximately 680 kilometers in 24 hours.
In 1994, the now 88-year-old Kruithof won the world record on the Buitenbaan of the Italian Baslega di Piné. He skated 655 kilometers and 600 meters in one day.
