Jan Müller and Rasmus Engler go on a “Vorglühen” reading tour

Jan Müller is a full-time bass player at Tocotronic, he also regularly writes columns for the Musikexpress and runs his “Reflector” podcast. Rasmus Engler was and is again the drummer for Herrenmagazin and Robert Stadlober’s band Gary. In 2007, together with literary agent Jörn Morisse, he published the book What do you actually live on?: On surviving in precarious times. Now Engler and Müller, who founded the side project Dirty Dishes in 2005, have published a book together: The novel “Vorglühen” was published by Ullstein on July 28, 2022. And they are now going on a reading tour with him – presented by Musikexpress.

The publisher describes “Vorglühen” as follows:

“From the provinces to St. Pauli. A novel as intense as a night of partying.

Albert had hardly placed the empty shot glass on the counter when Gernot, with his glasses crooked, rushed towards him and called out: »Go on, go on! We have to move on!«

Having just moved to Hamburg from the Oberbergische province, Albert Bremer finds himself in the middle of a night of madness in St. Pauli. He drinks grandmother’s apricot spirit and loads of beer, meets the most amazing women and the most bizarre guys he has ever seen. And within a few hours he found friends, a room in a shared flat and a band.

preglow tells of Hamburg 1994 and of the music that will inspire the whole of Germany after this summer. From the departure from the provinces to the big city, from alcohol-pregnant nights and days, from intoxication and enthusiasm, from friendship, love, betrayal and disappointment. From the electrifying feeling of being in the place where something really big is about to happen. “
