This year Jan van Amsterdam, together with his wife Henny, will visit the Franciscus Xaveriusschool on Nagtzaamstraat for the second time. There, several bombs fell around the corner on April 16, 1943.

At this mistake bombing, 85 people were killed, more than a hundred local residents were injured and many lost their house. It is the biggest disaster in the Haarlem war history. The commemoration has received more and more attention in recent years, especially since the memorial plaque has been moved from an inconspicuous corner to the centrally located Nagtzaamplein.

Pupils from groups 7 and 8 help with the commemoration. The story that Jan tells in their class is the inspiration for poems and drawings for them.
