Jambon: “intens to reach an agreement on nitrogen dossier, together with CD&V”

“If we can’t find a solution, the damage is incalculable. In many areas and without prospects for the farmers, the citizens, the companies. I don’t want that. Well-meaning people don’t want that. Let’s close ranks now, in the importance of Flanders”, Jan Jambon, Flemish Prime Minister.

No applause from the opposition, which takes the Flemish government seriously and demands its resignation. N-VA party leader Wilfried Vandaele supports his prime minister, but is disappointed and angry because CD&V no longer supports the original agreement.

“It won’t work if you hit one party against the wall”

CD&V minister Hilde Crevits admits that her party is holding its own. She wants to offer young farmers a future and strongly criticizes coalition partners N-VA and Open VLD.

“I think we should get through this with our government. This should work, but it will not work if you hit one party against the wall. I will not participate in that”, it sounds.

Stefaan Sintobin of opposition party Vlaams Belang denounces the incoherent government and expresses his support for agriculture and horticulture.

“Whoever thought that the farmers and horticulturists in Flanders had no support from the population is wrong. Totally wrong. I think we can best testify to that in West Flanders.”

On Friday, Flemish Prime Minister Jambon wants to make a new attempt to conclude an agreement, with CD&V there. So we have to wait and see if and when the political dust settles.
