The German team sports specialist Jako AG and the football club 1. FSV Mainz 05 want to work together in the long term. On Friday, the company announced that the supplier partnership with the men’s Bundesliga club, which originally ran until 2028, had been extended early to 2031.
Jako will continue to equip all of the club’s teams with this for the next six years. The partnership started in 2023. “During this time, a close and cooperative collaboration has developed, which is characterized by shared values, short coordination channels and a high level of creativity,” it says in a statement. “With the early extension of the contract, the partnership will not only be continued, but will also be further expanded in terms of content in the coming years.”
A “uniting element” of the collaboration is “the common understanding of responsibility and sustainability,” emphasized the team sports outfitter. “Jako and Mainz 05 both pursue the goal of consistently considering and developing ecological aspects in professional football. Since the beginning of the cooperation, the club has been using high-quality jerseys made of recycled polyester – an approach that reflects the sustainable orientation of both partners and benefits both fans and the environment.”
Tobias Röschl, who is responsible for marketing and sales on the Jako board, praised the close cooperation. “For us, Mainz 05 is a partner that fits our idea of team sports perfectly: passionate, down-to-earth and with a clear identity,” he explained in a statement. “Since 2023, we have felt in every phase of the collaboration how much trust, openness and creativity there is in this partnership. Together we have created jerseys that combine tradition, emotion and modern design – and that are equally popular with fans and team.”
The early contract extension until 2031 shows “how convinced we are of each other,” emphasized Röschl. “We look forward to continuing this successful path in the long term and further expanding the partnership.”
